Everything Apple has announced at WWDC 2021 so far

The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is one of the biggest events of the year for Apple developers, and this year’s show is no different. With new releases of iOS, MacOS, tvOS, watchOS, iPadOS, and homeOS expected at the show, Apple has a lot riding on WWDC as it seeks to excite developers and users of its many platforms.

And even though the company is expected to overhaul popular features of its platforms — like expand its push into privacy, give iMessage a big overhaul, and improve iPad multitasking — there could still be unexpected surprises at the show. Even though WWDC is largely about software, Apple had, in the past, used the venue to showcase new hardware. Prior to the start of WWDC, industry observers speculated that incoming MacBook Pros could feature new designs, an updated processor, and 14- and 16-inch display options while reintroducing MacBook fans to the beloved MagSafe charging port.

The new MacBook Pro laptops could also do away with Apple’s controversial Touch Bar, as the company is expected to return to a standard row of function keys this year. Apple will also likely use WWDC to give us a better state of the Mac as it continues to push forward with its transition away from chips made by Intel in favor of its in-house M1 silicon. We expect a lot of news at WWDC, and Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to take the virtual stage at this year’s conference to deliver the keynote, with other company executives joining the presentation. In addition to debuting new changes to its software, Apple will leverage WWDC to outline its vision for its products, as it is the third developer showcase this year, following rival Google’s I/O and Microsoft’s Build conferences. Whether you’re partially invested in Apple’s growing ecosystem or are a devoted fan, you’ll likely find something from WWDC that excites you.

We’ll be covering Cook and company’s keynote live, so be sure to keep refreshing this post for our coverage of WWDC 2021, and be sure to visit Digital Trends for all the latest news from Apple.

These announcements are breaking, and we’ll continue to update this article as they come in.
